Being honest i don't think 2.5 MM should be the factor if the Redsox are getting a package like this. Plus they've already invested in this team and agreed to the payroll. In fact, I think they should be willing to eat as much money as they can, so they can maximize the returns they acquire.
Eating money to maximize a return doesn’t necessarily mean a prospect that a team has no interest in moving suddenly becomes available, it only means it will include more of the “edge of the roster” or “lottery types” in the trade package (like you’re doing with Levi Sterling & Khristian Curtis).
After reviewing your initial comment, i agree with you. I wasn't taking into consideration Contreras contract details.
Need someone who is willing to take a deep dive into researching his contract details better then I have because it could be different then what I’ve described but I think I’m close with the numbers.
