The Pirates would have to be desperate to do this trade. Do you think that the RS should try to get under the luxury tax or keep Chapman+Contreras+Duran? Only guaranteed traded players are Gray+IFK +Sandoval.
As of today I feel that they will not attempt to get under any cap and that it will be a very quiet deadline for Boston and the only player moved will be 1 of the LH RP from; Danny Coulombe, Jovani Moran or Alec Gamboa. IKF could get moved but he may not even be back before the deadline so teams may be hesitant. I have a feeling Gray & Chapman will both be part of the pitching staff in ‘27. I think Duran’s value is too low to trade and Boston should continue to hold on to him, and I wouldn’t bundle him with anyone just to move him. I could see a team taking a flyer on Sandoval with the Red Sox getting a surprising return, I could also see them keeping him around for depth or him tweaking something and continue to be unavailable. With Early & Suarez both currently on the shelf I could also see Tolle joining them after his next start to help contain his innings pitched (like Early) and we could have a Bello sighting again joining Gray, Bennet & Sandoval (who I think will start this Wednesday or Thursday in place of Suarez) for a trip or two through the rotation during the next 2 weeks and through the All Star Break. After that I think it’s decision time for Breslow & company and hopefully it follows a nice winning streak. Then I can change my mind again, just like the Red Sox!
