I see both sides. Not sure McCarthy keeps it up in Tampa Bay or if the .220 ISO and .350 BABIP are a result of Coors, but I would rather he get bulk PA with Simpson pinch running for Aranda/Yandy/Catcher/Caminero than continuing Simpson in a full time role.
Why do you assume I didn't? His stats are goosed by Coors Field. Away from Coors Field he is hitting 108 wRC+. That's fine, but it's not exactly a needle mover, particularly when you account for the fact that the Trop is a pitcher's park and would further dampen his results. Hopkins and Williams have the tools to be very good players. I don't want to give them up for essentially Goodman. McCarthy would be just another run of the mill replacement player the Rays have year after year.
