💁🏼♀️ How do you foresee the off season working out once the World Series ends?
I kind of think we will see a rush of activity on several fronts. I expect to see teams try to lock up players to long term deals in the final hours of the current CBA and to trade prospects and players who have control that extends beyond 2027. Players in the final year of control who refuse to sign a new deal will be untradeable until the new CBA is signed. Unfortunately I expect the lockout to extend into the season, hopefully not longer than 1-2 months but I’m prepared for a lost season.
Thank you for responding.
Does Bobby Bonilla miss a paycheck in the lockout?
He shouldn’t. It’s deferred money from the 1950s.
You think the Rays get aggressive with promotions because of the looming lockout? I have to think if they knew they'd lose a year in 2020, they'd be more aggressive in getting guys to the next level in 2019. Getting Flewelling the chance to catch and hit AAA pitching instead of dominating 23 year old bad pitchers in A+ seems like an obvious chance to be aggressive. Get him a month in AA, then finish the year with former/current MLB players as teammates. Not the worst thing for Bodine spending his year off having spent some time in AAA either. Overn seems like another obvious candidate to finish the year at a level he normally wouldn't.
From what I understand, the minor leagues will continue on for everyone not on the 40 man as if there was no lockout. So for guys who don’t need to be added to the 40 man this Winter, there’s no reason to rush their development. They will play baseball even if the Majors are shut down.
