There's no doubt that he is more promising than this time last year, but he's a college guy in his 3rd year in AA. Almost 900 AA PA, can't play SS more than emergency, and 40 man concerns at the end of season. If he makes the show, I expect he's Ben Williamson. I don't see anything more than a backup IF, but I suppose a strong side platoon at 2b is still possible. Durham's roster really fucking sucks. The fact he's going to get 1000 AA PA while Oliver Dunn and Nick Madrigal play 2nd and 3rd in Durham doesn't give me positive vibes that the Rays have any belief in his abilities.
But I'm fine with excluding Taylor.
I get all that. His 2025 was a disaster and he should be dominating AA at this point given all the time he has spent there. Still his results are damn impressive. If that continues in AAA it will be hard for the Rays to keep him off the 40 man in the Winter. I think he’s better than Williamson, who I’ve been very disappointed by (both in the field and at the plate). I wish the Rays would stop trading for Seattle leftovers. Cabby and Williamson…., I’d have rather not made those trades.
Nick Franklin too, although Brad Miller wasn't awful.... Yeah, stop trading for M's middle infielders.
