They aren't moving Allen though... They don't have enough SP depth to do so...
And I’m not sure the Giants would be terribly interested. He seems to be missing bats in the minors this year, but his recent big league stints have been fairly unimpressive.
Allen is essentially a very durable 5th starter... would be a 5th starter on most teams in MLB right now... He is a pitcher, doesn't throw hard, but will eat innings and will compete...
Yeah - not a perfect fit for a team looking for some upside future value. They don’t need to trade Ramos, but probably should with the demand for RH hitters.
I think "most teams" is an exaggeration. "Half" would be stretching it. Out of spring training with every pitcher healthy, he might make 6,7. Currently, I'd say maybe 12 is closer to accurate guess. His style, lots of pitches wasted with low strike out rate and 1.40+ WHIP is not good combination. I agree with part of your description, durable and competitive.
By his 2025 numbers and stats, right now, he would be at least a 5th starter on most teams... Without injuries, maybe but his numbers last season actually were not all that terrible and he normally has very solid command...
