Early got a good 2nd opinion, is throwing again and will be back soon. He's already a proven MLB caliber starter, which I think fits the A's window more. Eyanson also does work though if the A's want more clock. I could see Witherspoon in there over Phillips, but I think that limits the amount the A's could get back especially if the Red Sox send back Narvaez.
Early is doing long toss, not pitching, and he has no ETA for when he's back on the mound. Once he's on the mound and giving full effort my concerns will go away. With 2026 shot Eyanson's '27 ETA is acceptable. I don't think Boston is desperate enough to include Narvaez and one of Witherspoon/Phillips but if they are... Eyanson/Narvaez/Witherspoon OR Phillips would most likely get a deal done.
