In a heartbeat... unless I knew of a sucker I could flip them to. As of 7/22 there is no timeline for when Crochet is going to resume a throwing program. Anthony got called up June 9, 2025 and he's spent almost as many MLB games on the IL as he's played. Given the latest update on his hand, it's likely that ratio will flip this season. I won't say anything negative about their respective talents... but baseball players that don't play baseball aren't very interesting to me. And when the cost to acquire these high-contract, not-playing players is an everyday player that will contribute to the Red Sox on Day 1? Not interested.

I always preferred to be the one to break my toys. What do you have against trading healthy players for a starting Catcher with enough RH power to DH on his days off if the Red Sox were so inclined?
I can definitely see the A’s being underwhelmed by my package (pause) and wanting more, but I promise you Connelly Early’s a couple week long injury isn’t gonna make or break the deal for an A’s team that would be throwing in the towel by trading Langeliers anyway.
It's been 3 weeks and he's still not throwing off a mound. If he can get a rehab start in before the trade deadline, show that he can throw with game effort and not grab at his elbow, then OK. But if the A's trade for a guy that isn't healthy enough to pitch... and he ends up needing TJS after his debut appearance in Green & Gold... then the underwhelming package quickly becomes a steaming pile of excrement.
What would YOUR proposal for Langeliers be? I feel like you're shutting down every Sox proposal on here lol
I pitched Eyanson + Navaez for Langeliers a few days ago. I've also included Juan Valera in a few scenarios since he's out until next year with TJS.
I think you might take these BTV surplus value numbers a bit too seriously as I scroll through your proposed trades. I think BTV does an incredible job, but the values don't always match up with what actually happens due to leverage at the deadline. If you go back to last years deadline, a lot of the bigger trades were graded as overpays by the buyer in the deal. Only exceptions seem to be the Jhoan Duran deal and the Griffin Jax deal. I feel like the A's could definitely pry away another good asset (~$10-30M surplus value) along with Eyanson and Narvi, especially if there are other serious suitors.
I think coming to BTV and arguing non-BTV values is very tiring. Leverage does exist, bidding wars exist, AJ Preller pops up and demolishes the matrix now and again, but by and large I try to keep things in the Fair Trade realm. I'm quirky enough by insisting on non-IL players coming back in deals that I don't need to add "unreasonable asking price" to the reputation.
Not many of these proposals that you are replying to are unreasonable lol. If they were, then it wouldn't be accepted by the BTV model. The buyer slightly overpaying for the big fish at the trade deadline is basic logic.
Perfectly reasonable by the numbers. As long as one is willing to overlook the whole "physically unable to play baseball" part. The thing about BTV's numbers is that they're designed to not penalize somone who goes on the 10 day IL... which makes sense! A player shouldn't lose half his value if he misses 3 weeks and I'm not saying Early isn't worth his current valuation. But I get the choice on if I'm willing to pay that price when he's unable to play.
