As a Rays fan, I think I've come back to my original belief that Neto isn't worth the price. Yeah, he has a good wRC+, but he strikes out a ton and doesn't play SS defense well enough to man the position for the Rays. I think I'd prefer the Rays focus on someone like Arraez or X.Edwards for 2B. Better fits defensively, much cheaper in trade cost, and have similarly good bats to Neto (but without the Ks).
What does "done for the season" matter to a guy in A ball?
Everything to the acquiring team and you know it.
I don't expect Pierce to be traded until he plays next year and shows he's healthy, but there's nothing to stop teams from trading for him if they're comfortable with the medicals. It's not like anyone is acquiring Pierce for the stretch run for this year's playoffs. One thing I know for sure is that if Pierce isn't moved at this year's Deadline, he won't be available in trade until next year's Deadline (and maybe not then) because the Rays almost never trade top prospects while they're in the low minors (Libby for Aroz being the only exception I can think of).
