Yea I was thinking he would be the starting SS for 27-28, as much as I'd love to say this would let them move on from Walls I'm sure he'd still be on the roster but hopefully as a backup.
It would be an interesting swap. Walls is beloved by DRS and Ortiz is well liked by OAA. Neither has a great bat but I would bet on Ortiz having the better bat. The question is whether giving up Deluca is worth Ortiz. I'd feel better if the Rays included a prospect over Deluca.
I was looking at their roster and that was one thing they could use was a RH OF, i figured it'd be easier to find one of those compared to a starting SS, i think there'll be some team regression next year and there's nothing in FA and going another season with Walls and Williamson as 2 dead spots on the roster sounds like a big step back
A RH OF might be easy to find, but one that plays defense as well as Deluca is another story. I understand your logic though.
