Yea but it was the same way with catchers too and you still got to fill that area, I think Ross is the sneaky good part, he's already has a 20/20 season at AAA with almost a .900 OPS, I think he can cover SS for a bit if not they have a Zobriest type, Winokur fills the 3B prospect need they have especially now that Taylor is gone, Raya I think could be stretched back out again to start and LaPour is a good prospect, I don't think Aranda could really bring back a potential 1/2 starter, 1B isn't a position teams pay top dollar for cause its easier to fill plus pitching is down in general, a year ago Hopkins was a top 100 with #1 potential and now he's a reliever, look at the top 100 how few are pitchers now
Have you not heard of Taylor "THE FRANCHISE" Walls? SS is covered until Emerson is ready. I joke, but in all seriousness, I have no desire to watch the Rays ruin any more careers or waste valuable trade capital on players they can't develop. The Rays shouldn't even look at a RHB prospect who doesn't have at least a 60 hit tool. As for pitching prospects, the risk is high, as Hopkins shows, but it is what it is. Go after the prospects with the tools to become TOR types and see what happens. It most likely won't work out with Hopkins. The kid has no control, has never had control, and will probably never have even average control. Doesn't mean they should stop trying to acquire guys like him in the low minors where the trade value is low enough to be part of an Aranda trade.
