I hear you, but viewing Genoa purely as depth is a poor use of resources. I can attest to this as a Mariners fan whose team hoards starting pitchers when there are glaring needs elsewhere on the roster. Their value only really goes down the longer you wait. Genao looks blocked and he's too good of a prospect to stash right now when the left side of your infield is more or less set for at least the next 2 years.
I wouldn't necessarily say he is blocked... He is being used as the utility MIF right now and fans want Bazzana in LF not 2B... I don't see that happening, but i cannot deny if Bazzana could be moved to LF or CF, he may be a better fielder... My point was they would be trading from a position with no depth for a position of depth... Curley is not a SS... He will not be a SS... Then you have Francisca who is 20 years as the next SS up... It literally is Rocchio, Genao, Schneemann then Tolentino if they retain him... That is their SS depth between MLB and AAA.... Half of their top 30 prospects are OFs... It is one of those, I like the talent the Guardians are getting, but they would have to make another trade otherwise they would be playing with only two MLB guys who can play SS and one AAAA type at AAA... Cleveland would have to find a trade to get SS depth from player swaps... This by itself is a no from Cleveland, but if you can find me a deal that moves the extra OF prospect for and MLB ready SS prospect, then I could say yes... Make a second move in a new trade... I didn't see a SS for either organization that I saw available to get back for Genao since they cannot trade Genao without acquiring MIF(s) in another deal.
