Schmitt may be a solution for cards at 3B. Blocked by Chapman, low cost, power potential and either a bridge to Baez or an extended contract if he pans out. Pallante will eventually have to move to make way for younger talent and won’t cost the giants much to fill much needed rotation openings. Is it easier for cards to pick up a short term rotation piece or a 3rd baseman from a relatively weak FA class?
