A deal between the Astros and Yankees really lines up here with these four main players on expiring deals. Astros no longer need a full time 3B with Correa back, while 1B production has been an issue for them as Walker has not lived up to expectations. Here they get one of the best 1B bats in Garcia to replace him and slot into the everyday lineup. McMahon is included here to get him out of NY and play more of a bench piece role which will be handy considering Correas injury history. They also end up saving $6-8m in the process and Yankees can throw in a pitching prospect like Hess here as an example. Also makes sense for the Yankees to get an every day 3B who hits RH and a RH 1B they can rotate into the lineup with Rice when they face a lefty. He’s still very good defensively and would replace Goldschmidts role. This adds $6-8m to their ledger but that is well worth the price to improve the lineup that struggled all year.
