Personally, as a Guardian fan, I have no interest in acquiring Joey Gallo.

I am on agreement with just a prospect not on the 40 man for Gallo since he would cost us another player as well from the 40 man roster. I can see a deal where Cleveland gets a long term piece/good prospect back, but not just a prospect for Gallo swap. Though most Cleveland fans aren't looking to get Gallo at all especially right now since we have so many minor league OFs playing so well...

Cleveland has 7 HR's from their outfielders combined this season. Joey Gallo would certainly help lift that figure some. They need to get some pop from their outfield and as a Guardians fan you know they won't spend a lot of money to acquire some help there. I almost think the approach the Braves took last year might work out well for Cleveland this year. Acquire 2-3 underperforming OFers and hope one or two sticks. The Braves won the WS with that approach last year. Gallo would cost them very little and I'm sure the Yankees might pay a portion of his salary. He obviously has struggled this year or the Yankees wouldn't be looking to move him, but he posted a 139 OPS+ last season before he was traded. Looking at all his underlying statistics, the only thing that's changed is the team he plays for and the final results. He can't handle NY. Some players can't. Gallo is one of those players. He still ranks in the top 11% in BB%, Hard Hit%, Barrel%, and Max exit velocity. Those are elite numbers that are in line with his career norms.

I hadn't looked at the numbers, but 7 HR from any combined OF is terrible. Regardless, I don't see Gallo as an option they would consider, but I agree that a change of scenery would/could be good for him.

If Gallo was any good, the Yankees would not be trying to dump him and his salary. Sorry, Cleveland does not need the strikeouts and an easy out in their lineup.
