A trade must make both teams better. Another minor league 2B does nothing for the Guardians who are loaded with middle infield prospects. Rosario is providing offense in 2022 while Gallo has been a total bust. I see Rosario traded, but for something that fills a need. This package is not it.

Guardians outfielders have only hit 7 HR combined so far in 2022. Gallo, while having a horrible year, would certainly boost those numbers and comes with the remainder of his 2022 salary being paid by the Yankees (roughly $5.25M). Rosario will be a free agent after next season, meaning this would be the time Cleveland typically would move on from a player like him. He's roughly a league average player with his current wRC+ being a career high of 103 but could help the Yankees solve two problems at once - Give Gallo a change of scenery, and move Kiner-Falefa to a bench role he's much better suited for. Gimenez can shift over to SS for Cleveland.

Sorry but I agree with JMF, Cabrera isn't a target at all from Cleveland's standpoint. I would definitely counter and say I want Gallo (I'll take the full contract left) Arias and Sears. Anything else, I will go elsewhere with a player I don't have to trade.
