Break down. Phillies Perspective: The Phillies need to improve their defense, Center field seems like the most logical place for an upgrade, with Taylor you are acquiring a top-tier defender in the 81st percentile in sprint speed and is also just having a pretty solid year at the plate with career highs in BB% and wOBA. Now one question that might emerge is will the Royals be willing to eat some of Taylor's contract, due to their track record in that sort of situation the answer is probably no. So you throw in Josh Staumont who is a solid back-end reliever with great stuff, he's in the 91st percentile in Whiff% and 80th percentile in K% but struggles with control in the bottom 3% of the league in BB%. Royals Perspective: The Royals still think their window to compete is sooner rather than later, so with that in mind they acquire 3 prospects who fit that 1 to 2 year window they seem to have their eyes on. Phillies #28 Prospect Damon Jones just seems like a Royals guy a 6'5 left-hander who was great stuff but struggles to find the zone, he threw well in the AFL and has an 11.3 K/9 in his career in the minors. Phillies #20 Prospect Simon Muzziotti who also seems like a Royals guy, has decent plate discipline and a knack for putting the ball in play, he is an above-average runner who has shown he can play a great center field and with the lack of a long term center fielder in the Royals system it seems like Muzziotti could potentially fill the void. Now with the biggest piece Phillies #3 Prospect Logan O'Hoppe, he has had a great approach at the plate this year in AA putting up an 11.5 BB% with 14 HR and a 152 WRC+. He is a very capable defender behind the plate, he receives and blocks well and has a quick and accurate arm, He was named the Dernell Stenson Sportsmanship Award winner in the AFL because of his makeup and pitchers' love working with him.
