For the Tigers, the last true missing piece of the prospect pool is an elite 2B. C: Dingler, Rogers 1B: Torkelson 2B: ? SS: (Baez) 3B: Kreidler, Workman, Pacheco OF: Greene, (Baddoo), (Hill), Meadows, Campos, Cabrera I don't think Clemens becomes anything more than a utility guy and Paredes just always seems to be a step away from putting it all together. So the Tigers move from a position of strength - pitching and outfield depth. While adding a true 2B for 2023 and an elite defensive CF to roam Comerica. The Rays add more pitching, which they always need. Madden slots in behind Baz and ahead of McKay in their pitching prospect list and Lange also provides some future cost-certainty in the bullpen. He had a good showing as a rookie in Detroit this past year. Campos should be a bat-first corner outfield with the ability to play CF in a pinch, but he is 4-5 years away still (hence the slight "overpay" - he is not a true 4.5 trade value to me, yet).

This is a no brainer trade for the Rays. They are drowning in middle infielders and can trade Edwards away without noticing his loss. KK's replacements are already in-house, so losing him is really just part of the master plan. Adding Madden makes this deal work, but Campos and Lange are the icing on the cake. As I said, this is a no brainer trade for the Rays. Also, as an FYI - McKay has been injured for the past two years and might never become a real asset for the Rays rotation. He's nowhere near the Rays' 2nd best pitching prospect at this point. I'd say he's completely unrankable, but gun to head, he's at best 7th (after Baz, Bradley, Wilcox, Johnson, Romero, and Goss).
