Jays make big moves for pitching. Pick up 3 solid relievers, and 2 solid starters to bolster the rotation.

Pirates never make the deal because they don't need a very weak hitting, backup catcher especially for a controllable RHRP. The Twins possibly make the deal because they are horrendously weak at SS. However Groshans is struggling at AA right now and it's very hard for smaller market teams to find good pitchers like Berrios and Pineda who has been above average so far.

Both teams are the worst in their division so why do they need these players. that why they would take less for these players. Danny Jansen is a very good defensive Catcher who could platoon with Jacob Stallings. and who knows maybe a change of scenery could give Jansen and opportunity to become an above average catcher. and the website says it's possible so it works.

I am on the Pirates would not do this opinion. They are building to contend in 3-4 years. Trading what is currently a very good asset (Rodriguez plus adding Crick) to plug what is not considered a current hole is not the direction they are going with trades. They will be looking for younger assets. Also, while you are correct it works from a value perspective (website values), it does not work at all with how the Pirates have been operating since the change in GMs.

they aren't gonna contend in 3-4 years. a 26 year old catcher fit's their timeline.
