14I don't see why the Pirates would do this deal knowing the Yankees have interest in Frazier, too. CWS could also trade Frazier in the offseason. I think Kelly, Gonzalez and Bailey about as light as a package could go.
don’t think the sox would part with 2 of their young arms in kelley and dalquist, one forsure but the other piece would be a position player i’d think
It's a fair deal on paper but I don't think Frazier is worth it. He's having a great year but is really just a 2WAR player. Thompson and Kelley are gambles but you have to keep some of those in your system.
Make it Collins and Kelley and a deal could be made. Pirates do not desire the marginal prospects.
I agree that the deal undervalues Frazier--the equal values were too satisfying not to post
The market has been soft on 2Bs for years. There is always more supply than demand, and we've factored that into the valuation.
this is a good deal for the CWS
Fair enough
@IsIt... The clear winner of this deal as stated would be the Pirates, not in 2021.. but certainly beginning in 2023 and beyond.. These three guys aren't "just arms that throw hard" like you see with most of the Yankees' prospect pitchers.. These guys are vastly superior in just about every way as PITCHERS (repeatable mechanics, athleticism, baseball IQ, etc).. That's what the Pirates need and what the CWSox would be offering with this trio ( Kelly/Stiever/Thompson ). If the Pirates were offered this deal while having the Yankees on hold on the other line..they'd hang up on Mr. Cashman, immediately.. Thoughts?..
Lol. Kelly has 4 games in MiLB and has walked 10. Really shows his pitchability, doesn't it? Thompson's started all of 9 games and is putting up about a walk per inning (25 IP and 20 BB). Stiever has more experience and has seen ML time but the upside looks *low*. Did you actually look at these guys before you typed that out?
Did you?.. Pirates would be thrilled to get these three arms for a "sell high" player like Frazier.. Make no mistake.. Frazier is a solid player.. The lack of experience is the result of these guys are coming off of a the Covid-19 shut down. Of course.. that DOES matter..
So, a pitcher with a 25-grade command wasn't going to be crisp in his first outings. Also, the fact that you think 8 innings means anything as his first ever professional experience reveals a lot. That's such a small sample size.
LULZ. You think I'm a White Sox fan. That's adorable. You literally just tried to pass off some 20-year-old kid with 8 professional innings under his belt as "unpitchable"... because of 8 innings. If you can't understand how it's bad to use small sample sizes to make those determinations, then you're not in any position to call anyone "dumb", friendo. For what it's worth, if Kelley's 25-grade command is legitimate, then he's not pitchable. But no one has seen enough of him at the big league level, nor has he had the time to make necessary adjustments to make any determinations just yet.
Man, I don't know if White Sox fans are notably dumb or what but I'm responding to this: "These three guys aren’t “just arms that throw hard” like you see with most of the Yankees’ prospect pitchers.. These guys are vastly superior in just about every way as PITCHERS (repeatable mechanics, athleticism, baseball IQ, etc)" Take your small sample size crap and step off.
