1A's already have a crappy shortstop, and this has the A's taking on an additional $40M+ in salary to (I guess) replace him with someone only slightly better but definitely more expensive. Even if it's to get Marte, I don't see any reason the A's would want Ahmed as opposed to literally anyone who's cheaper and doesn't suck.
