Braves acquire Kevin Smith, a middling prospect that is not on the 40 man roster yet. He plays primarily SS but also has games at 3B and 2B over each of the past few seasons. He was on the verge of breaking out in 2018 but in 2019, despite 19 HRs and 61 RBIS in a full AA season, he suffered from a BABIP of .269. He’s been minimum .271/.312/.466 at each previous level so I think the Braves can help him recover from a subpar 2019, and he could make an impact on the Braves this season if he’s added to the 40 man roster. In exchange, the Blue Jays get 2 MLB relievers with 4 years of control left. One lefty, one righty. Newcomb has also shown flashes of promise as a starter but hasn’t put it together. I see this as low risk/high reward for both teams.
