1Now that the Mets have come up short in the Bauer sweepstakes, I feel that the time is right for them to revisit conversations with the Reds about Sonny Gray & Eugenio Suarez. Like CF, 3B is still a massive hole that needs to be taken care of as soon as possible, and as far as Gray is concerned, he would be just another upgrade to the top half of the rotation. What hinges on this proposal is if the Mets will walk back their talk on holding on to some of their untouchables. I'm guessing that Mauricio & Baty are a couple of those guys, but with Suarez's impact bat and control until 2025, I find it hard to imagine them being that untouchable in this case. Suarez's Barrel% has improved every year, and within the last 3 seasons, his Hard Hit% has been above 40%. They're simply not gonna find better options at 3B right now than Suarez.
