2I probably got the "cash" part wrong on this algorithm, but let's roll with it. I see Arenado as the Mets next big splash of a trade following the Lindor trade. The Mets are starting to look at JBJ as a possible CF solution, so if they were to go that route, they'll still need a big RH bat. I see this thing working out if the Rockies agree to be on the hook for $55M of the remaining $199M left on Arenado's contract. The Rockies would agree to pay $10M annually from 2021-2025, and $5M in 2026. Also, Arenado would agree to waive the optout option he has after next season. I see Davis being a terrific fit at a place like Coors, and I'm hoping that he'd finally get the opportunity to move to 1B, where he should've been for a long time. Vientos is someone I've always been high on due to his power and potential with the glove, but due to the fact that I believe that the Mets see Mauricio as their 3B of the future & Baty for now being on the 3B depth chart, Vientos will be the odd man out.
This is well thought-out. The Mets would be taking on a net of about $18M to fill the 3B slot, the extra starter they need, and to clear the logjam of no-defense corner guys on their current roster. I think the difficulty is that the Rockies would be selling low, in a down market, on their franchise player. But I could see it.
