With only Pepiot coming back for SP, I think this would be an easy no for Milwaukee.

I get your point and maybe this trade needs a little work, but I think this is going in the right direction. The Brewers seems to be trending down and their assets are only getting more expensive. I think moving Burnes and/or woodruff may make sense to be competitive in 2 years. With Busch and Lux, that sets them up nicely for that. Add a few nice free agents and get a little lucky. Their top prospects will be up around then. 2025 would look really nice for them.

Lux and Busch offer Milwaukee nothing they don’t already have and they are a huge portion of this trade. They want Urias to play 2B with Adames at SS. That’s why they got Anderson to play 3B. They also have Turang who plays the same positions as Lux. The Brewers are not planning on tanking to get ready for the future so they need pitching to be competitive now and in 2025. They are more than likely losing Burnes, Woodruff, Houser, Miley, and Lauer in two years or less. That leaves very little SP and a minor lg. system that doesn’t have a great deal of pitching prospects. If they want to stay competitive now and in the future, they have to get more than Pepiot for Burnes.

From the Dodgers point of view, I don’t think they would make this trade. Busch looks like the apparent replacement for Muncy in 2024. Maybe even this year if the 32-year-old Muncy is hitting around .200 again. Lux is the projected starting shortstop and Graterol is a valuable RHRP with the potential to be a spot starter. Pepiot looked good in his major league debut last year. I understand that Burnes is a valuable top of the rotation pitcher, but I think they would rather keep the 4 players, especially with the potential Busch and Pepiot have shown.
