Rays say no. First, they aren’t trading an Ace pitcher within the division. Second, they aren’t trading Glasnow before the season starts, when they only just extended him. Third, Rays most likely aren’t interested in trading Mejia, as this would leave them very thin at catcher in 2023. Fourth, they aren’t trading Kitt while he recovers from TJS and his value is in the crapper. Fifth, this return doesn’t excite the Rays, as almost all the value is tied up in a teenage outfielder (which the Rays have had awful results with) and a middle infielder (the strength of the Rays System). I also can’t see the Rays having any interest in paying Pivetta $5MM a year or having Dalbec at all. Rays are trying to win a WS in 2023. This trade sets them back considerably, and is easy to reject.
