Boyd fills in for Verlander until his injury heals and then becomes a fourth or fifth starter. Candelairo becomes a utilityman, who switches hits, and Demeritte adds outfield depth. Whitley, coming off an injury, replaces Boyd in starting lineup. Toro battles Lugo and Parderes for third base, until Torkelson is ready, and Valdez gives the Tigers a much needed additional left in the pen.

When Boyd gets dealt I think the main piece is a hitter. Tigers have pitching depth and badly need hitting prospects.
