    Down vote for Oakland.

Freeman and Palacios are easy No’s for the A’s. Naylor is interesting but… they’ve got Langeliers already at AAA so it’s basically a waste of Trade Value.

    • Joseph DeClercq

Who knows what position Naylor plays, but it’s probably not catcher. He sure can hit though.

I would do Valera for Murphy straight up. Valera is that good. But the system would view that as an extreme overpay. And Freeman and Palacios, right now, would be an upgrade over 2/3s of the current A’s lineup.

      • Nathan Thompson

Valeria is good, no doubt. But not 1-for-1 for Murphy good. Freeman isn’t and Palacios is merely OK. That they’d improve the A’s line-up is more an indictment of the current Oakland line-up than proof they’re good.

You know that via every single prospect rating site, Freeman is a top 100 prospect and has probably the best hit/contact tool in all the minor leagues right?

          • Nathan Thompson

I do. They all give him a Plus or better Hit tool to go with below-average Power, average at best Speed, and a 2B defensive profile. He controls the strike zone well but he doesn’t draw many walks. He’s also had multiple, significant shoulder injuries.

In other words… if he doesn’t maximize his Hit projection he’s going to end up just another guy playing 2nd base. That’s not a guy I want as a centerpiece in a major trade.

          • Ty Archy

At least you have done your homework and the shoulder surgeries at least were on the non-throwing arm so really shouldn’t effect anything playing wise.

Freeman actually has better power than the projection, but he focuses on purely on making contact. He is an old school style of player. Ty Cobb would love his style but modern style does not…

Naylor is a catcher and a very good one at that. His older brother is the one that struggles on defense who is on the big league club.

Down Vote for me. I am not spending the cost for Murphy who is only a slight offensive improvement. I also don’t see Cleveland trading Valera when OF is a need.

Naylor will stick at catcher and was just promoted to AAA Columbus after killing it at AA Akron. He is Cleveland’s catcher of the future.

Murphy is upgrade in Cleveland C position. Hedges makes 4M and is FA 2023. Murphy costs less than backup Maille now and is Arb 1 in 2023. Murphy is 3.5 year starter. Has won Gold Glove already. An increase to .225 from .175 pretty significant.

Murphy over value on this site (IMO) so hard to make numbers fit for trade. He should be Cleveland #1 Trade target 2022.

Waiting and wishing for Minor League Prospects is a plan. C Naylor won’t help Cleve in 2022. Murphy will. Naylor might not help in 2023. Murphy will. That’s the ying and yang. Cleveland balks at trading OF because they lack OF, yet they have 3 OF currently on roster under 25.

None of those current Guardian outfielders have the potential that George Valera has. Gonzalez would have been gone if there was a rule 5 draft this past December as he was not one of the 11 prospects that Cleveland protected. Valera definite fills a need in the Guardian organization.

Murphy is an offensive upgrade over Hedges, but not nearly enough of an upgrade to spend the prospect cost listed. If I am going to spend this much prospect capital, I want more of an offensive improvement than what Murphy would bring. I don’t agree with the value assigned to Murphy. I would rather target Danny Jansen who adds the same at a much cheaper cost.
