This one makes a lot of sense, assuming the Indians decide to sell. They need a C for the longer-term, and the Dodgers have a glut of young catchers. Rios makes sense in Cleveland as well as a potential replacement for Santana. And having Hand on the Dodgers would just make them even scarier in October.

Yeah, that was my thought. I love Will Smith, but Hand is dominant and is under control affordably for the next 2.5 seasons.

  2. Not enough to Cleveland to trade 2 1/2 years of Brad Hand.

    • Also Cleveland is very happy with their current catcher Roberto Perez. The Indians value Perez’s defense and game calling. Perez is also hitting much better this year with more playing time. I can see a trade with the Dodgers, but a different strong hitting prospect would have to be involved.
