$4 mil just to see if the A’s can fix Weathers? No thanks. There are much better uses for that money. The idea is interesting though. You just needed a better player or at least more $ to Oakland.
Any idea why Pinder wasn’t traded? It’s been bothering me and I can’t find a reason the A’s kept him. He’s not getting re-signed and they could’ve acquired almost any prospect while saving a $1 million.
They could’ve taken any lotto ticket while opening up a roster spot to see what they have in AAA. Maybe they didn’t want to lower the bar on their trade returns. For a team seemingly set on saving money they just threw away a not so insignificant amount along with any potential player acquired. Thanks.
Padres kick in half of Myers remaining salary plus Weathers. Melvin gets Pinder back.
The A’s take the money saved from Montas/Trivino/Pinder to cover the half of Myers’ salary and get to try and get Weathers sorted.

Not a clue. Although not too many COF rental bats got traded at the deadline so the market might not have been there.
