Jansen should have went to guardians if not him than Sean Murphy rays will be fine they got a good front office they made moves

  2. Bennett Johnson

Yeah, surprised that Rays and Cleveland didn’t upgrade behind the plate. Toronto has 3 catchers, Murphy, Contreras, etc.

    Fire Jed Hoyer!

Rays wouldn’t do this trade. One year of a potential Ace pitcher and 3.5 years of a dominant closer for 2.5 years of a moderately good catcher? No chance.

  4. Bennett Johnson

Who are they going to throw the ball to? You got nobody behind the plate? Jansen is a good fit for Rays. Toronto isn’t going to give him away.

Adam was good for the Cubs. Never understood letting him go. They also had Liam Hendricks. Now they have nobody to close games. They also cut Harold Ramirez. Keep Michael Hermosillo and Jackson Clint Frazier instead. Bunch of morons running things.

    Fire Jed Hoyer.

Jansen is an ok catcher, but the Rays aren’t going to give up Glas and Adam for him. Frankly, I don’t see how he has the value he does. He’s valued at 60% of Murphy’s value, yet Murphy is better offensively, defensively (by a wide margin), and even has an extra year of control. If the Rays are willing to trade for Jansen, they might as well pony up the extra value and get a much better option. Alternatively, they could (and probably will) stick with Mejia as their starter. Mejia won’t cost the Rays anything. Both Mejia and Jansen provided 1.4 fWAR last year and there is only a 0.3 fWAR difference this year, so they aren’t all that different performance wise. Rays pass on Jansen at this price.
