1) A’s are looking at Murphy as the catcher of the future, and are EXTREMELY unlikely to trade him for “catcher until the end of the season”.
2) Infield upgrades will be all internal … they’ve got Franklin Baretto and Jorge Mateo in AAA Las Vegas. They’re not going to blow a good outfield prospect, a valuable super-utility player with a power bat, *and* the #3 catching prospect in baseball on filling in around what is already very very strong infield defense. Especially since Murphy would already be up if he hadn’t hurt his knee.
