This hurts a lot for the A’s. The only way I can see them doing it is if, internally, they’re concerned about Murphy’s durability after his various injuries the past few years. Otherwise, the upside of all three prospects is hard to give up and I think the team would rather add cheaper rental arms.

I agree with Joshua above. While Boyd has been very interesting this year (check out that k/9) I’d be concerned about his less-than-great track record coming into the year.
Murphy is a cornerstone for a team building for the future, particularly a new stadium down the line.
