Given the breaking news on Luzardo and the fact that NO pitching help is incoming soon from the minors, I would not be shocked if Beane trades one of his big chips and tries to win in 19 and 20. Remember, the A’s need to get approval for a stadium. Nothing pushes that forward more than a World Series title. Throw the analytics out the window.

All the A’s-ballpark-related bills have flown through the originating side of the state legislature without any “no” votes, and are down to one or two hearings before the final votes on the other side (Senate/Assembly) (also without “no” votes).

The team, the league, the City *and* Port all want Howard Terminal to happen.

The team is privately financing, and adjacent infrastructure will be funding exactly as PacBell/ATT/Oracle Park were and Oracle Arena is, to the point where the city is trying to expand the TIF terms to allow them to extend the limits and use the money for more distant areas.

The Pacific Merchant Shipping Association’s concerns about stadium lighting and *possible* future expansion of the *secondary* turning basin are being addressed by the team, and along with ILWU 10 were verbally castigated by the Port in a public meeting for partnering to oppose with … Schnitzer Steel, the company that is _the reason_ Howard Terminal is no longer viable for maritime shipping use.
