I heard this trade proposed on a podcast… dunno… seems like a steal for the Mariners.
Torres is getting expensive relative to what he brings to the table, and relative to the 2B market, which is usually very cold.
Yup, agreed. There aren’t really a lot of good options for the M’s to upgrade at 2nd if they’re dead set at keeping Crawford at short. Trade for Torres or Wong. OR, sign Segura or Drury. That’s about it. Have seen rumors that the Rays might be willing to move Lowe but I don’t know if that’s true.
I don’t see the Yankees dealing Torres for prospects. Obviously, a lot depends on Judge, but I’d assume they’d try to swap Torres for a back end of the rotation option or perhaps a LF. I’ve heard he could be attached to Donaldson or Hicks to soften the blow of unloading those contracts.
The Yankees are never really in rebuild mode, mostly just retool mode. And rebuilding with years left for Stanton, Cole, DJ and Hicks gets tricky.
I could see a deal that included Winker for Torres working out between the M’s and Yanks.
