This trade would be Seattle essentially admitting they aren’t dedicated to the “contend by 2021” window they’ve been talking about, and while the prospect package they’re getting back isn’t bad at all it’s still hard for me to see Dipoto pulling the trigger on this
I agree, maybe I’m a bit more optimistic about the Mariners outfield depth in the organization relative to the infield depth, which is why I’m targeting 3B a lot in my trades. I can see a Fraley, Smith, and Bishop/Miller/veteran FA being just fine until 2021 when it becomes Kelenic, Smith, and Fraley/K. Lewis/DTW and I think that is a solid outfield for a competitive team, especially if Kelenic is great early i.e. Acuna/Soto. Thanks for the feedback!
I can’t see Cleveland selling the farm for two outfielders. I can see a small deal for Santana. A small market team like the Indians needs their farm to produce future mlb players as they can not pay constantly for free agents like the big market teams do.
