Nats have very few trade assets. Finnegan is a solid bullpen arm and even with the addition of Jansen & Martin, Boston can use another reliable arm in the ‘pen. They also can play Robles in CF and move Hernandez to 2B or SS if they want. The prospects they give up here are not highly regarded, so it’s not much of a price to pay to add some upgrades that make the team a little more watchable at a moment when they’ve lost the faith of much of their fanbase.

The Nats get Feltman + the Sox #19 & #23 prospects, adding further depth to a system in the midst of a rebuild.

The Nats have obviously scouted Boston well give their Rule V pick and Jeter Downs signing. The Nats don’t need warm bodies down on the farm.

I would love to know why Robles has 0 trade value. He is 25 and isn’t a FA until 2025. He also remains one of the top 3 defensive CF in baseball. He put up a bref WAR of 1.8 in 2022 and is still pretty cheap.
