Paul Blackburn was an All-Star in 2022, I like him, but his 2nd half wasn’t good. July ERA was over 7. He hurt his pitching hand and was shut down early. I’m not trading for him until he’s proven that he’s recovered and is good again.
Also, why do the Braves want another starting pitcher? Morton, Fried, Wright, Strider are all locks. Then we have Ynoa, Anderson, Soroka, Allard, and Elder to consider.
For the A’s, wouldn’t they want players that match up with their timeline?
This trade idea doesn’t hold together for me.
Blackburn is one of the few locks among the 11 pitchers contending for a rotation slot with the A’s, and this would be a large “sell low” in their eyes.
Literally no one thinks the A’s farm system needs low end catchers that would be blocked behind Langeliers Soderstrom & Susac.
