Updated version of this trade. According to Craig Mish, the Red Sox are sending $5M to Miami — which makes more sense.

And now Chris Cotillo is reporting it as “a little more than $5.5m,” but whatever.

I have always wondered why this site only shows cash received by one team but not cash sent by the other team.

For a 2 team trade it is easy to figure out but when more than one team is involved, I don’t get it. Just curious.

Even with the additional cash, seems like the Red Sox did well in this deal.

Because it would throw off the math. The transactions are set up to show what each team received from the other.

The Red Sox got a needed lefty reliever. I am surprised that Bloom could get a decent return for Barnes. I was thinking more of just a simple salary dump. Actually a good move from Bloom shocking!

15 days until Pitchers & Catchers report, I’m jonesing for some Baseball. GO RED SOX!
