Why in the world would the A’s even consider this?
When I first saw this trade proposal, I thought it was a no brainer for the Rays. Then I took a look at Soderstrom’s numbers. It’s a little disturbing that his wRC+ has fallen at every level (145 wRC+ to 126 wRC+ to 101 wRC+ to 78 wRC+). He’s not looking like the top prospect I thought he was. Real world Rays would say no to this trade, and I think that’s the right move as well.
