The Blue Jays aren’t trading Kirk after dealing Moreno to Arizona. Cleveland wouldn’t be interested anyway because he’s fat and not suited for longterm play at C.
Cleveland isn’t trading Bieber without the deal helping them much more than this one. I’d rather deal for Jansen who is a better fit, but he isn’t going to cost Bieber and Toronto won’t deal him either.
I know what CA said, but I think you’re taking it to a level that wasn’t intended. He’s going to be offered an extension this spring and if he doesn’t accept it then he’ll be in the same boat JRam was last year. We’ll see how it plays out, but if he declines the offer then the gloves are off and he could be dealt. I do agree that it won’t be during the offseason, but there isn’t much time of that left. We’re almost into March already.
All I said is that Bieber is not going to be traded this offseason. It is my opinion that we don’t see a Bieber trade until next offseason if no extension happens as I see us contending the entire 2023 season. At that time, our minor league pitching should be more ready. I don’t see Bieber being moved at the deadline if we are contending.
I think you’re probably right JMF. All I’m saying is that there are circumstances that could seen Bieber dealt in season. I’m also of the opinion that if he doesn’t agree to an extension that he should be dealt in order to get the max value.
Being in contention is one reason not to deal Bieber. I think there is also an outside chance that some of the young pitching(McKenzie included) could make dealing Bieber a possibility.
In the end I think it would be soon regrettable if Bieber is not extended and then not traded this season. I don’t think they get but a fraction of the value for him next year at this time and the risk of injury and/or underperformance gives me an uneasy feeling. Hopefully, whatever happens the best outcome is had.

If Antonetti says he isn’t trading a player, then that means they aren’t trading a player. He never says anything in stone like that unless he means it. Normally his answers are saying a lot of words, but say nothing at all. When he says that stuff, just understand that person or player isn’t being moved.
“We have every intention of trying to contend next year, and trying to win a World Series. And, Shane Bieber will be a big part of that for us,” is hardly saying that Bieber “won’t be moved” or he would have said “Shane Bieber will not be traded”. Antonetti doesn’t say things without leaving options open.

Cleveland’s front office has already stated that they are not trading Bieber this offseason.
