Orioles go for another young star to go with Adley, Gunnar and Rodriguez

Astros get a young starting pitcher in dl hall and get infield prospects after losing gurriel and pena.

Overall probably won’t happen but fun to think about.

Not fun to think about from an O’s perspective, Pena does not address an organizational need. Pena had a great playoffs/WS and is a very good player and has a high AAV, Astros need to keep him.

Pena had a .289 OBP last year, only walked 22 times in 558 plate appearances (3.9%). The O’s are not looking for free swinging guys. They already have several hitters that have the same issue (Mountcastle, Hays, Mateo). The guys advancing from the minors are more patient hitters. Not to mention they have several SS coming up with similar or better projections (except they’ll take a walk) (i.e., Henderson, Ortiz, Holliday). So they would never consider this deal.
