Zach Neto is the most advanced position player from the 1st round of the 2022 draft. He has already excelled in AA. Yes, he’s older than the high schoolers drafted, but he has what I don’t see in Cleveland’s young MIF prospects; all-star potential. The downside is his defense, but if I’m the Cleveland FO I wouldn’t be too hasty to say no. Rosario should be traded, and although I would rather trade Karinchak than Hentges, I think it would be a mistake to turn this down. Although it is really unlikely the Angels would say yes to this.
Defense is extremely important to the Guardians and will be more important with the new rules banning the shift. I don’t get weakening the 2023 team for another middle infielder. You want to trade Rosario due to the middle infield logjam then add back to that logjam. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Cleveland would love Neto, who was rumored to be on Cleveland’s shortlist…
Problem is they have no replacement for Hentges… He’s just not available in 23 since they are trying to compete and win. If Cleveland was a bottom dweller, this would have been done yesterday, but thus doesn’t fit a want or need in 23 for Cleveland since it moves someone they cannot replace right now.
I’m going to have to go with JMF on this one. I don’t think there is a chance in hell that CA would deal Hentges for a MIF prospect that doesn’t have a good glove. He’s the only proven LHRP they have and clearly he’s a pretty good one. This trade would be a mistake for Cleveland to make and I’d rather deal for Rengifo who can help us now and going forward.
As a side note, Neto’s set up and swing is likely going to be exposed at the highest level. I don’t think his future is anywhere near certain and he’s not that great of a prospect IMO. I wouldn’t trade Rocchio straight up for him and if I’m dealing for a 2B prospect I’m calling Baltimore.
Cleveland says no to this.
