This trade helps Gds with LHP and LAD @ SS.
If LAD extends Rosario it becomes a high value return.
Since Gds have Gimenez and Arias ready, it is a balanced return of Win-now (Ferg & Jackson) and prospect.
It is not a balance of win-now and Cleveland won’t do this. There’s nothing in return that would remotely come close to helping them this season, but you probably already knew that after posting it 5 times.
Actually I don’t think it’s that bad of a deal at the end of the day…
Hentges just went out with an injury so getting another LHRP. Ferguson is a solid looking LHRP and Cleveland needs a lefty with some MLB experience. I have no interest in Jackson, but the return of Ferg and Frasso actually isn’t a bad idea for Cleveland…
agree with Winnow here.. getting a ML experienced LHRP (Caleb Ferguson) might be a good idea and help right away with the over abundance of care being visited on Big Sam Hentges..
Andre Jackson is too green and too inconsistent to fully know what he’s bringing to the table and what the Guardians can truly expect.. He’s another RHRP that might develop into a back of the pen arm as his ceiling, and that’s not a bad thing… it’s just an uncertainty.. In Jackson’s place, I would much rather see the Guardians poach Jesus Galiz C or Jose Ramos if this deal were to be considered. I’d consider adding both Galiz and Ramos if the dodgers wanted to add Tena or someone like him to their side of the deal..
Frasso has a major league arm and enormous fastball that runs and rides.. He has two promising secondary pitches (Slider & Change Up) that just lack the kind of command you’d want from a high leverage RP.. Frasso has also improved control to what might be above average now.. He’d be another good lottery ticket to add into this deal.. and/or might become the best part of the deal down the road..

If Hentges’ injury requires him missing significant time then I’d make this deal because Ferguson becomes a need.
