Angels say they need player controlled past this year and definitely need top tier pitching moving forward. Angels have a lot of outfield depth with adell in double A who’s ready to come up any time now. Indians get a major league ready cost controlled pitching prospect and an outfield bat to keep them going for this year.

I like the framework here, but question whether it makes sense for the Angels to include Calhoun. If they’re trading for Bauer, that suggests they’re playing for a WC spot this year, in which case they’d need Calhoun.

My thinking is you need to take risks at this point. It’s a big risk asking Adell to come up and takeover for Calhoun but in this case they’re still setting up for 2020 by getting Adell some reps before next year and at this point I think Calhoun’s value will never be higher after the series with the Dodgers

I question this from the Indians angle as this trade would throw away any chance to compete in 2019 when they are only 2 games out and are the #1 wild card.
