Brennan is a more than adequate CF’er that has a potent LH bat.. Civale is solid #3/#4 SP with experience.. Battenfield is a depth starter/multi-inning bulk reliever.. These three guys fill the top three needs for the Yankees..
Spencer Jones is the gem the Guardians are after.. He’s a high end position player with quite a bit of upside, but, more than two years away.. Oswaldo Cabrera is a switch hitting OF’er with position versatility that can fill in the RHH side need & play right now..
Thoughts?
Honestly, this doesn’t make much sense for Cleveland in 23… Cabrera isn’t better than Brennan with the bat. He can play more positions, but otherwise, we would be trading our 4th OF and 4th starter for an utility guy and a prospect… We lose a good possible 3-4 bWAR in 23.
Is there a way to get Jones without giving up Civale? We don’t have the proper replacements in 23 to replace Civale in my mind if we want to contend.
As usual.. another s*&^%)(*%^$$# comment..
…you gain a guy ALREADY at the MLB level so bird in the hand!!.. Cabrera has the same or more potential and absolutely MORE versatility.. Along with this ML’er, the huge upside player (Spencer Jones) is more than worth a finally healthy but no track record of remaining so BOR SP, a pitcher with some but unknown ability and a decent/good OF prospect..
potential bWAR in 2023?.. really ??? smh..
Your comments are just as bad lol
Honestly on paper, Cabrera isn’t someone I am against at all since he can play a lot of position and put up about an 100 OPS+. That really isn’t too much of a problem.
Honestly I whole heartedly feel like Brennan will be a plus OF so he could get similar bWAR on paper to Cabrera. I wouldn’t even be surprised this time next season Cabrera and Brennan have the same values on here with Brennan possibly being higher since he has more team control.
From Cleveland’s standpoint, who gets Civales projected innings? Even in injury he gets 20ish starts with a 4 FIP… So when healthy Civale is a 2+ bWAR pitcher so who can replace that?
We have Curry, Gaddis, Pilkington, Allen, Battenfield then maybe Morris and Cantillo to take some. Can you believe they will put up better innings than Civale in 23?
If you can find a way to get Jones and Cabrera without giving up Civale and Brennan/guys projected on the current 26 man, then go for it. I’d take just Cabrera if you could get him for Freeman and Allen lol
I’m not giving up Brennan to gain a possibility in Jones that is at least 2 yrs away. Brennan should be Cleveland’s starting CFer. He won’t win any GG’s, but he’s more than adequate in CF and his bat makes him even more valuable there.
You want to deal Civale then I’m fine with that for sure, but I’d like to see Battenfield for the first half of the 23 season before I deal him. Hopefully he is settled into his new mechanics and he gets his walk rate back to where it was prior. If he can do that to go along with the uptick in his stuff then we could have a hidden gem. There’s going to be a lot of turnover in Cleveland’s rotation over the next 2 seasons……a lot.
