    As a Reds fan, I would wholeheartedly endorse this trade. It doesn’t “feel” as close as the trade values make it look.

      Yeah, that’s a common thing. The reality is that you’d be giving up 11 years of positive production from two (albeit lesser) players at a reasonable cost for 1.5 years of premium production (at a higher cost) from one player. The math works, but the perception is such that it feels off (even though it isn’t).

      That’s the type of trade the Astros made for Cole. Pittsburgh got four lesser-known players who projected to be productive for one premium player. The media characterized it as a weak return, but it’s turning out just fine for the Pirates so far. Musgrove’s value alone has increased quite a bit since then.
