If the White Sox decide to trade Cease, I can see this return from the Yankees possibly working out. White Sox currently have zero production from 2B/3B, and Peraza provides protection to Anderson who is often injured. White Sox top prospect Colson Montgomery is a SS but profiles best as a 3B. Dominguez becomes the White Sox top OF prospect.

Yankees get a front of the rotation pitcher in Cease to pair with Gerrit Cole. This would push Brito/Schmidt out of the rotation and provide rotation stability given Carlos Rodon’s back injury. Luis Severino is also gone next year so adding to the rotation now rather than later makes sense. Losing Dominguez would hurt, but Yankees have Spencer Jones shortly behind him in the minors, and could resign/extend Bader. Cease is the type of player they would trade Dominguez for.

Whoever lands Cease, if anyone, will need to overpay so even this may not be enough for him.
