In this potential deadline trade Milwaukee will get a good package for their ace. While this might look like a lot, you have to factor in that Houston would have competition for trading for Burnes. Milwaukee would a an outfielder with high upside, a shortstop/outfield prospect with a great arm and above average speed making him a potential base stealing threat and Loperfido the underdog prospect in this trade that’s batting .300 in AA in 21 games with 21 hits and a 1.000 OPS and a .457 OBP. Urquidy would be a rental unless they extended him and Mccormick could play in the outfield.

The lack of pitching coming back to Milwaukee kills this deal before it gets off the ground. The Brewers would want MLB ready pitching in any trade involving Burnes. The Brewers major weakness is SPs in the minors. That’s why they can’t afford to trade a TOR like Burnes and only get an injured Urquidy back for pitching. Milwaukee’s strength is it’s young OFs and they certainly don’t want or need more OFs in a Burnes trade. Here they get 3 more who make up the huge majority of this trade. I think McCormick is way over rated. He’s a 250’s hitter and a 1-2 WAR player. Milwaukee wouldn’t want him as the major player in this trade. I agree on Loperfido and think the Astros may have found something in him. I wonder why he is only rated a 1.2?

Only problem is Houston’s pitching prospects haven’t been too impressive. So I looked at trading Houston’s better prospects which happened to be hitters. Ok, I’ll make a second trade idea that is more pitcher friendly for Milwaukee.
