The Jays don’t need any of the players. They’ve got Bichette at SS, Chapman at 3B, and will have 6 SP when Ryu comes back at the trade deadline.

I was thinking Anderson to second for the remainder of his contract. Who plays third after Chapman? And as much as I’m looking forward to getting Ryu back too much starting pitching is never really a problem. Just playing around with numbers a bit. I do think Anderson could be a great fit.

All 4 players coming to the Jays are on the 40 man. Only 2 players from the Jays are on the 40. When Ryu and Green come back they’re going to need spots.
If the deal happens today, Giolito into the rotation, I guess you can put Manoah in the pen, option Pearson to AAA boot Hatch off the 40. When Ryu comes back, Kikuchi to the pen, option Mayza to AAA and Thornton off the 40. When Green comes back, Swanson to AAA and Jay Jackson off the 40. That just leaves Cimber, Pop and White to find spots for on the 40 when they come off the IL. You need a 5 man rotation, 1 long man and minor league pitching depth. Emphasis on minor league.
Payroll wise, Anderson will add about 8M and Giolito 7M. So they’re well into the the level of the CBT.
The Jays desperately need a RHH 4th OF and could use minor league SP pitching depth. That 4th OF makes Merrifield the 5th OF and full time 2B where he belongs and takes Lukes (Kirk’s and Belt’s personal pinch runner) off the 26.
